(Ginger pictured left, Fred pictured right)
Ginger and Fred have called Nash Library home since 2021. They’re brothers, best buds, and professional snugglers. You’ll often spot them:
- Lounging at the Front Desk (sometimes on a student worker’s cardigan)
- “Helping” with homework by sitting directly on it
- Perched by the front doors in the mornings, watching squirrels and birds—and waiting to be greeted by you!
They love gentle pats and friendly hellos.
Walter — “The Walt-man”

Walter is Library Director Nicole McMonagle’s corgi and an occasional visitor. He loves meeting people and may announce himself with a very deep bark—he’s friendly, just enthusiastic. Walter is working on becoming friends with Ginger and Fred; the cats are… still deciding.
Pet Etiquette (for everyone’s comfort)
- Ask before you pet, and let a cat or Walter come to you first.
- Don’t feed our animals or share your snacks.
- If they’re sleeping or tucked away, please let them rest.
- Wash or sanitize hands after petting (allergies are real!).
- If Walter is visiting and you prefer space, just let staff know—we’ve got you.
Come by Nash Library and say hi to Ginger, Fred, and (occasionally) Walter!
