Oklaunion, Texas. 2/15/90. Mr. Chas. E. Adams.
Anadarko, I. T. Yours Feb 11th to hands & contents
carefully noted. I am at a loss to comprehend the
object of your statement that, "no white men
will be allowed on this reserve for the purpose of
farming for the Indians" I have a letter from
W. D. Meyers (former Agt at Anadarko) Dated Aug 15th 1889
in which he says "you would have to confer
with the Indians Themselves for leasing land for the
purpose named (farming.). Has Agent ??? no
Authority to Act in the matter. It is evident there
is Error somewhere. I am forced to believe you
have been prejudiced against us by the Texas
cowmen who are occupying your reserve. if so
I Ask the privilege of meeting you with A Delegation
of Settlers & Indians in behalf of the Settlement
of the Ft Sill country: our move is in keeping
with the letter & spirit this Administrations pledged
Indian policy. the Indians have invited us to
settle with them. I am at a loss to understand
why I, A friend of this Administration Policy & of
the Indians, should be warned to not contract
