  Bill of Sale for Negro boy and Negro woman, September 26th, 1835

Know all men by these presents that
I, Daniel Laughlin, for and in con-
sideration of five hundred dollars to
me in hand paid by James P. Ma-
gowan, (the xxx of which is hereby
acknowledged) have sold to him a
certain negro boy named Frederick
about thirteen years of age : whom
I hereby warrant to be a slave for
life, and sound in body & mind.
- As witness my hand & seal, this
26th day of September

Know all men by these presents that
I, Daniel Laughlin, for the consideration
of one hundred fifty dollars incurred to
be paid by James P. Magowan, have
sold him a certain female mulatto
slave named Chloe, about forty one
years of age : whom I warrant to be
a slave for life, and sound in body
& mind. As witness my hand & seal
this 26th day of September, 1835.
