neighborhood of $240.00, complete, and I do not approve of the pur-
chase of a new one when the old one, with slight repairs, can be
made serviceable.

You are therefore requested to ascertain definitely what re-
pairs are required to place said range in good order, furnishing
the following information in order that no mistake may arise in
ordering the repairs, viz:

"State the number and title of range, and if it is a single
or double oven. In each set of Top Plates for nearly all ranges
of the John Van Range Company manufacture, there is on Key Plate;
the remainder are Lip Plates. The Key Plate has an edge underneath
the range; the Lip Plate has an edge underneath on three sides,
with an extension, or lip, with groove on fourth side, and can be
used on any part of the top of the range; therefore, merely giving
the location of the plates will not answer.

In ordering Top Plates do not fail to state which are wanted,
Key or Lip Plates. In ordering Water Backs, state for which side
of fire they are wanted, - right or left as you stand facing the
front of the range. When range has more than one fire place, state
for which fire, - right or left. When there are no water backs used
in the range, and castings or brick tile for side linings are want-
ed, observe the same directions in ordering linings as in water
backs, and state in the order that no water backs are used in the
range. When the end linings (used either with water backs or side
linings) are wanted, state if for backs or front of fire place.

When linings that are used in connection with water back are
wanted, state for which side, and if for back, or front, of fire
place."

If in your opinion a laundry stove should be supplied said
school, you will make your recommendation accordingly, and proper
action will be taken looking to the shipment of the same.

In regard to bath-tubs, you will state explicitly the kind of
tubs which are desired, and what connections (pipe, couplings, &c)
