Image of letter from unknown sender to James M. Haworth.

1 mo 9 1874

J M Haworth

U. S. Ind. Agent

I am in receipt of letter
from the Commissioner, date 5 inst - copy
enclosed) asking for the authority con
tained in statement of Thomas Battey
that certain persons killed in an en-
gagement of troops - on a scouting par-
ty from Fort Griffith - who proved to
be "counterfeit white men in Indian disguise".

It is very desirable that the facts in
this case - and the murder of the teamster
near Camp Supply (referred to in Aug letter
to this office, date 27th ultimo) be fully
ascertained and reported - great good
to the service may result from such
information.
