Department of the Interior

Office of Indian Affairs

Washington D. C. Jan 5. 1874

Sir.

I am in receipt of yours of Dec.
31. 1873 in reference to, and enclosing
a report from Thomas C.  Batty through
Agent Haworth of the Kiowa and
Comanche Agency upon the alleged
murder of a teamster near Camp
Supply. In this letter Batty states
that pursuit was given to band
of Indians by a scouting party from
Fort Griffin, and some, if not all of
the band were killed, where upon it
was found they were "counterfeit white-
men in Indian disguise."
