Sir!!

Your letter of the 8th inst relative to the matter
of the seizure by Agent Jno D Miles, of goods claimed
to belong to "Black Beaver" a Delaware Indian of the
Wichita Agency, was received in due course of mail.
That, and one of previous date 29th March ultimo
together with an extract, of so much of the monthly
report of Agt Miles, as related to the subject, were
referred to the Secretary of the Interior, for his consider-
ation. I herewith enclose a copy of the decision
and order of the Actg Sec of the Interior, in the case
under date of the 22d inst. In accordance with
said order, you are now instructed to direct Agent
Miles to restore the good in question to Black
Beaver, at as early a day as practicable.

1. H. R. Clum served as Acting Commissioner of Indian Affairs in 1871 and again during 1872-1873.

2. Enoch Hoag was Superintendent of the Central Superintendency from 1869 to 1876.
