Then Eva is diagnosed with inoperable cancer, with less than a year to live. Hoping to reconnect with their children, David takes his spouse on a trip across country, ending at the San Francisco apartment of their granddaughter, Jeannie. In attempting to show their love, husband and children fail to listen to the Eva's expressed wishes. It is this inability to be heard that has tormented her entire life--and will torment her into her deathbed.
