In decades past, the howl of wolves could be heard across North America, Wavering in the air of still, breathless nights. They hunted in packs, preying upon deer, bison, elk and other big-hoofed animals such as livestock. Wolves were thought to be an enemy of humans and early settlers were determined to wipe out the world of the wolf. This program focuses of controversial efforts to revive populations of several wolf species in the lower 48 states.
